Boron has various functions to plants which include;
- It is necessary for maintaining the balance between starch and sugar. It does so by helping in the translocation of carbohydrates and sugar.
- It is essential in the process of pollination and seeds production. These processes are vital in increasing yields.
- It helps in the transfer of water and nutrients to all parts of the plant. Although their requirements are small, plants are very affected if the soil is boron deficient. Boric acid is the primary source of boron in liquid fertilizers.
